“A truly innovative and sustainable company does not hold back from embracing change, but is committed to leading it”
“With our commitment to such a drastic reduction in our emissions, we are leading the way in the fight against global warming”, Starace says. Enel has focused on this for some time and, not surprisingly, was one of the first companies to join the SBTi in 2015. Since then it has worked towards the achievement of important targets: in 2019, for example, it decreased direct greenhouse gas emissions per kWh by more than 36% (compared with 2007 levels).
And now, as also shown by the major investments planned for the growth of renewable capacity and by the thermal decommissioning plan, Enel is even more determined to progress along this path “by working relentlessly to maintain our leadership in the energy transition with ever-increasing attention to carbon-free activities.” Starace also stresses that “we are increasing the share of renewables in our generation mix. We are working with our customers towards energy efficiency and electrification, enabling change through reliable, digitalised and resilient grids. A truly innovative and sustainable company does not hold back from embracing change but is committed to leading it.”
