Starace: "Better than expected results and EBITDA growing"

"Better than expected results in 2016 and growth in EBITDA for the first time since 2013." Francesco Starace expressed satisfaction at the Group’s 2016 annual financial highlights, pointing the most significant results: the net income increased by 17% compared to 2015, amounting to 2.57 billion euros (+ 12.3% to 3.243 billion euros the net ordinary income), against revenues of 70.592 million euros. These data prompted the Group to propose to the Assembly a dividend of 0.18 euros (up from 0.16 euros per share in 2015), of which 0.09 euros per share already paid as interim dividend.

In the release about the results, CEO Francesco Starace also commented the outlook for 2017: the launch of investments dedicated to digitization is on the agenda, “will enable us to achieve significant progress in operational efficiency”. He added: “we will continue our industrial growth, focusing on networks and renewables, with a growth EBITDA target of 1.4 billion euros for the year " the CEO confirms, adding that 2017 will also "foresee early contributions from our customer focus strategy on a global scale ". Finally, Enel continues its efficiency process, with the aim of achieving the second step of corporate simplification.  Starace concludes " we are focused on the second phase of the corporate simplification at the individual country level in Latin America, while continuing with the active management of our asset portfolio ".
