To unlock the business, social and economic value of people living with disabilities: this is the goal of the Valuable 500, the global initiative which Enel has joined, along with 500 private companies. The Group led by Francesco Starace is, as company president Maria Patrizia Grieco reminded us, actively committed to promoting the active involvement of everyone. In 2015 it introduced a “Diversity & Inclusion Policy” based on the fundamental principles of non-discrimination, equal opportunities and dignity, which today also inspire the Valuable 500.
“Disability is one of the priority areas in Enel’s approach to diversity, together with gender, age, nationality and the promotion of a culture of inclusion,” said CEO Francesco Starace, focusing on the value that diversity and inclusion can have for the Group. “We are taking part in the ambitious “Valuable 500” initiative with the aim of freeing up the enormous potential that can be generated through the inclusion of 1.3 billion people living with disabilities around the world. This is in line with Enel’s view that sustainability equals value,” the CEO added.

The Group’s policy perfectly reflects the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, the responsible management of the social and ethical impact that results from corporate activities. This concept has positive effects in several respects: “As is evident in the ‘Valuable 500’ initiative, by opening up to people with disabilities, a company can benefit from, among other things, a higher level of innovation, an increased customer base and greater productivity.” Furthermore, Starace pointed out that, in order to achieve this goal, Enel is reinforcing its actions “to address the obstacles that people living with disabilities have to face, integrating their perspectives in our overall business approach.”
